As we did not have internet access (let alone power), I have used my written journal as a record for this online post. I've also included the link for Picassa, where I’ve posted all the photos from the project, as well as additional pics from our extended stay in Zambia (not part of the project) for those of you who may enjoy some African scenery and safari shots. For the purpose of this blog I often refer to Habitat for Humanity as ‘HFH’ and Global Village as ‘GV’. </div><div align="left"></div><div align="left">***When you get to the bottom of this page it is not the end...the blog continues! Harvesting, processing and storing their products such as harvested corn (which they ground in a hand mill) and hand-made charcoal, as well as caring for the goats, cows, pigs, dogs, chickens a cat and one very cranky and sleepless rooster who I appropriately named ‘Red Eye’.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIgSGkGQSxbFrJAZhaGryqz0U0AemIZe3ekBImFSGzmOhJQDMLcDz2NvrwxDwV_6pkk49BdoqmEoq4nRHns7aVlhmPEknLJhBcWCpeFaTWrhJBw-CsZrsxXcJ2v6bwpUUUpaqSZ16BuGcg/s1600-h/0811121544.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289016789968888018" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIgSGkGQSxbFrJAZhaGryqz0U0AemIZe3ekBImFSGzmOhJQDMLcDz2NvrwxDwV_6pkk49BdoqmEoq4nRHns7aVlhmPEknLJhBcWCpeFaTWrhJBw-CsZrsxXcJ2v6bwpUUUpaqSZ16BuGcg/s320/0811121544.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />The family re-thatching a roof<br /><br /><br /><br />Farming under extreme weather conditions and with a very limited budget is a feat under any circumstance, but there is no social safety net to lean back on in Zambia and people have to find a way to sustain themselves on their own. The family we stayed with are by no means wealthy, but certainly showed us they were ingenious in their home-made designs for everyday uses: practical in their engineering, persistent in labor even within the constraints of ‘African time’ (as they taught us to accept and be patient with) and the inconveniences of rural life, frugal with their finances and wise with their resources all while possessing a healthy perspective on priorities towards work, family and the community. This balance is seldom found in our North American society.<br /><br /><br /><br />Having a HFH home has obviously lifted the economic level of Mr. Wilson’s family, not to mention given them the pride of ownership. The benefits the Habitat for Humanity program brings are innumerable and this family was a prime example. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp2NZrnUGtmGyMz1-P6KXax_ZYNaIgwoejuaFOgKSUEVQFfEdOo4zgEOAotuNCmqdmWn7N8KnbKyf7FZbmbPzx_bT-uDoFkyxbGPPUXvjL9geOZJbLkPI4AkMmWU27zKMV6KSxE-XlxVPI/s1600-h/0811120144.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289016813572148722" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 213px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp2NZrnUGtmGyMz1-P6KXax_ZYNaIgwoejuaFOgKSUEVQFfEdOo4zgEOAotuNCmqdmWn7N8KnbKyf7FZbmbPzx_bT-uDoFkyxbGPPUXvjL9geOZJbLkPI4AkMmWU27zKMV6KSxE-XlxVPI/s320/0811120144.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtrsRvOjBLwMDv8vazfBU01fcXYYsMc0MzMNCet6m0IRsj8Yj69qExd_TCQLdW7N8UhuxQdUXm9G8lSZvyeFO4cbQfy0j8BOkxFlNVzCRrbDVNvacl0yRnThQ9xMdb5Yxcsj1u919h7l74/s1600-h/0811150317.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289016799225527506" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 213px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtrsRvOjBLwMDv8vazfBU01fcXYYsMc0MzMNCet6m0IRsj8Yj69qExd_TCQLdW7N8UhuxQdUXm9G8lSZvyeFO4cbQfy0j8BOkxFlNVzCRrbDVNvacl0yRnThQ9xMdb5Yxcsj1u919h7l74/s320/0811150317.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Observing this authentic farm lifestyle was also a great way to pass time on our breaks and before dinner, particularly in the ‘animal-watching’ department. Yet it wasn’t complicated, no mystery to their joy, the simple fact being that children have the ability to endure so much yet still find ways to have fun, to have the strength to look for something good in everything, to anticipate a smile in the face of a stranger, to have the courage to welcome a caring heart to come and play and be a part of their world, even if temporarily. No wonder kids rub off on us, it is their attitude and outlook on living that inspires us to believe in good and to have hope!<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9MGjoPH7ILbepUpvxUZUINObZphPYc50kDWzA2_JQWkl2RdNzyoS6CyrYT42n9df5J-uwzd__ZNDZ5vIwzD0UWuHWu5b0OdVnRKcOzdJfFgz48jrZGkzvlLbWxlXc2ilnS-9hqeFsVTBf/s1600-h/0811120914.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289171650855058178" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9MGjoPH7ILbepUpvxUZUINObZphPYc50kDWzA2_JQWkl2RdNzyoS6CyrYT42n9df5J-uwzd__ZNDZ5vIwzD0UWuHWu5b0OdVnRKcOzdJfFgz48jrZGkzvlLbWxlXc2ilnS-9hqeFsVTBf/s320/0811120914.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br />Our mason Godwin's son takes a </div><div>nap during the build<br /><br /><br /></div><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUStDfeMNyyELluS6bBpkzIPRWjE322neI29Uv6moNiolYPzdzlERXrWKCKIYs-zuyw8akRxLgXnf7M3P7cdNE8xDuK-EKpnqq-ltA29U9a2REd-m6F3xA_-yDv-Mc3dXNN66b7hpLgbIq/s1600-h/0811131006.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289150793180553330" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUStDfeMNyyELluS6bBpkzIPRWjE322neI29Uv6moNiolYPzdzlERXrWKCKIYs-zuyw8akRxLgXnf7M3P7cdNE8xDuK-EKpnqq-ltA29U9a2REd-m6F3xA_-yDv-Mc3dXNN66b7hpLgbIq/s320/0811131006.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /></div><br /><br /><div></div><div>This boy had built his own truck, one of many incredible inventions of wire, plastic parts and old flip flops (for tires) we saw made by the children there - amazing craftmanship!</div><div></div><div>(He wanted a picture but he was too shy to show his face:)</div><div></div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT9O8mDkExS1eczsQJ1XBwRLmX-qZdBmDpcQxgVfUh_bRGxdzg1Fs32sDEpQzYsMFPy0I2DTGAthQzYM001pKLr3dmo4iNY2I7aKZyvzjM_d_m-ERwtbH-r00zK6syqMA2VOh-s270WKIc/s1600-h/0811131004.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289150789547887266" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT9O8mDkExS1eczsQJ1XBwRLmX-qZdBmDpcQxgVfUh_bRGxdzg1Fs32sDEpQzYsMFPy0I2DTGAthQzYM001pKLr3dmo4iNY2I7aKZyvzjM_d_m-ERwtbH-r00zK6syqMA2VOh-s270WKIc/s320/0811131004.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div><br /><br /><br /></div><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9dDPovNu0zS2oQ-a08RaEXYT4jGTqlbvCl5O8na3umIuc64Npd90lYEq5UhmscevIkpCSMiUnQ3KnOPJ4vS9qzNpq9dqWW5I4udODliA9l94QS7uBWVCOEPqallbgVha_gYNdhJWz_NlL/s1600-h/0811141105.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289170020014884450" style="WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9dDPovNu0zS2oQ-a08RaEXYT4jGTqlbvCl5O8na3umIuc64Npd90lYEq5UhmscevIkpCSMiUnQ3KnOPJ4vS9qzNpq9dqWW5I4udODliA9l94QS7uBWVCOEPqallbgVha_gYNdhJWz_NlL/s320/0811141105.JPG" border="0" /></a>This little girl came running after us as we were leaving the build of the second site, she would wave as the kids were calling my name and yelling goodbyes, but then we would look back and she would shyly look down...I'll never forget this memory of her following out after us...her sheepish smile and waves...we had to go back to Mr. Wilson's but somehow I just wanted to go back and stay there longer...<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmrwFCnAzNWdcwpE05-BeV8H_ycd2ChEFT76GkfxNx5GcFnqj6fdHNC5cUr7CoK3jSPZbybpfQGpRG7KY20Q_FsZU9OsXiLLwpJ6atPedaXNEa0nFke8CskX6s6DcRxCPiRnRYrGmGx-iv/s1600-h/0811121543.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289170009312461634" style="WIDTH: 228px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmrwFCnAzNWdcwpE05-BeV8H_ycd2ChEFT76GkfxNx5GcFnqj6fdHNC5cUr7CoK3jSPZbybpfQGpRG7KY20Q_FsZU9OsXiLLwpJ6atPedaXNEa0nFke8CskX6s6DcRxCPiRnRYrGmGx-iv/s320/0811121543.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><br /><div>The lovely little Florence & Shingai, Mr. Wilson's daughter & granddaughter<br /></div><div><div><div><div><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtIRL7YCXZcvvauQfMtY0kn8NqpNbZhr6CBxLpLZ3QWuQPo2L2XO9hgVMOmdOFCIXHk9_-huXkPL1hxqjPx4GzFvJTGcmVm82wGMWu5pQe1TTBtmn45VrCaw6iVCYtZAUgYbi4zlqNAIuX/s1600-h/DSC04790.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289167022929743362" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtIRL7YCXZcvvauQfMtY0kn8NqpNbZhr6CBxLpLZ3QWuQPo2L2XO9hgVMOmdOFCIXHk9_-huXkPL1hxqjPx4GzFvJTGcmVm82wGMWu5pQe1TTBtmn45VrCaw6iVCYtZAUgYbi4zlqNAIuX/s320/DSC04790.JPG" border="0" /></a> It was hard work but each team member did what they could. When it did shower, it absolutely poured down from heaven! Fortunately, it rained mostly at night allowing us to work throughout the day. However, the heat was often intolerable, so we took frequent breaks from the unforgivable sun to drink bottled water - albeit warm as tea but somehow satisfying- and sit under the few tall trees.<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ97TyIVi13A0HdqZx_gbgy1z_OxCWZ5yPPpGYuAPububUOB-KGVUu6quNG5VKni3wJEWN4_1wjcLLccT1pFEXZn9XoP04sTvoGV1pO_qpP4foBkEMF3_hziSwZogH6_1Q4gin0q1Ed2y_/s1600-h/0811121593.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289400908890922850" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ97TyIVi13A0HdqZx_gbgy1z_OxCWZ5yPPpGYuAPububUOB-KGVUu6quNG5VKni3wJEWN4_1wjcLLccT1pFEXZn9XoP04sTvoGV1pO_qpP4foBkEMF3_hziSwZogH6_1Q4gin0q1Ed2y_/s320/0811121593.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_d_ShFRGKd7g47VK7epfXu-B91c4Xs4wNGOFQR1w37JTPI5nVc2vLgUFsLcyfotNjvXK3M44r09mFFSIybfBe57-g_wjVju-KXti40wT5U5Ui3TiGRfpPYfzrB0oQ2meHF8Dc77Kc5TQf/s1600-h/0811131603.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289400907674629682" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_d_ShFRGKd7g47VK7epfXu-B91c4Xs4wNGOFQR1w37JTPI5nVc2vLgUFsLcyfotNjvXK3M44r09mFFSIybfBe57-g_wjVju-KXti40wT5U5Ui3TiGRfpPYfzrB0oQ2meHF8Dc77Kc5TQf/s320/0811131603.JPG" border="0" /></a> The final touches go on Ennie and Michaels home (below) – the metal roof sheeting and everyone was getting excited for the finished product!<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK1zndo-6iVYfF-p9ow1XS9Pn7e9cuzup6IuTmmUfTtc2YEsYIfe3Dgk3lf-KT5QlAC1i9RbyOQVYru4TtQIfg7jH_aNAcoAk7Zu_DSCO_HkSplMaatxcLo_Gc-HFTESQFSwhI0WyhrS5n/s1600-h/0811171644.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289400907393927074" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK1zndo-6iVYfF-p9ow1XS9Pn7e9cuzup6IuTmmUfTtc2YEsYIfe3Dgk3lf-KT5QlAC1i9RbyOQVYru4TtQIfg7jH_aNAcoAk7Zu_DSCO_HkSplMaatxcLo_Gc-HFTESQFSwhI0WyhrS5n/s320/0811171644.JPG" border="0" /></a> The Zambians seemed unaffected by the sweltering heat the first week, but by the second even they seemed to take it easy during the hottest part of the day. Best travel item I packed – rehydration crystals! Even after traveling to South America, the Caribbean, North Africa and the Mediterranean, this was still by far the most humid and heat-drenched spot I have ever been (let alone worked in!). With the help of the hired masons, Godwin and Million, who guided us through the laying of bricks and mortar, we finished Michael & Ennie’s home (only the laying of cement on the floor & finishing windows & doors was left -a job we could not help with). Families have to come up with the money for high school, they said they usually do this by selling whatever farm products they are able to (i.e. livestock), and so with the abject poverty in the area there is little chance most children, especially girls, will attend school beyond grade 7.<br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289377680980849058" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg98RZTnL57dJhir6jgQZMmWpdO2stRRV7qo5NjEtCIlQZ_RetllwjCC0nQwdhcJX7z7WPx-Bv6SxRPnoxwZAqwVBoSRwtQn8nEqK3CcurmWcOriWzy8k8uxaJBEYl98aM1RZZmwYjmM4UF/s320/0811141039.JPG" border="0" /><br />Despite this, parents seem to place education as a high priority and try to pay for even part of their child’s secondary education through whatever means necessary. This is a huge strain on parents trying to care for many children and often with little means. It would take so little by our financial standards to help the school get the work done. I won’t soon forget the Namununga School, the students and teachers, and have seriously contemplated how we may be able to help somehow in the future!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlJ1FdVfkuV6wnibB1fFQjNEghCm4XuyEJOo7WurCktGY3Y6VPgU7B3KYQ88iJIxMyclsWlqfWguG49JBkC3UQNlZzgriF-hQUbN8cyEjkAH-J1XUyWqX4IpIOYeiwly0g8ckrS_Y-LyBT/s1600-h/0811130968.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289378012396611186" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlJ1FdVfkuV6wnibB1fFQjNEghCm4XuyEJOo7WurCktGY3Y6VPgU7B3KYQ88iJIxMyclsWlqfWguG49JBkC3UQNlZzgriF-hQUbN8cyEjkAH-J1XUyWqX4IpIOYeiwly0g8ckrS_Y-LyBT/s320/0811130968.JPG" border="0" /></a> The children were happy to receive the donations of stickers, pencils, erasers and a new soccer ball that had been donated by the Sudbury Soccer Club. He said his bike, like so many others in the area, was given through a donation program run by an NGO and this mode of transportation is invaluable to him in his work. He and the rest of the staff check in on vulnerable people in the community, educating them and trying to provide support even when resources are not available. They work with many of the families caring for orphans (including one that lived with Mr. Wilson's family), and they try to ensure the children are being taken care of while assessing whether there is a risk of abuse or neglect. I enjoyed talking with him about community work and about his own family, wife Phoebe (also a staff at the Centre) and daughter Mace, pictured below.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289387720189968210" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirMtc-4A9BaoN1UoCSw-q3hWYY0nZESNChVPOeVu6KBuxsqpCJxBTCSl5u4ZUxWWXnDn9V1psrt0rgfqd73lnM1QnrV1K8mUX8YcI-exad06XpGY3fCotLDcAsk0ubjzxWQltIBaW7YcHk/s320/0811171183.JPG" border="0" /><br />The women staff at the Centre bring their babies to work with them. The staff at the Outreach Centre explained to us how ARVs (antiretroviral drugs used in the treatment of Aids) are free but accessibility and transporting them is somewhere between difficult and impossible. Drugs and Medical supplies are virtually non-existent, and the Centre operates on an extremely low budget - barley managing to pay rent in their run-down tiny building. The Centre also provides family planning support and education on reproductive health, but they often have to refer people to the nearby clinic - which we also visited.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289377224700126098" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 242px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiCLE0ozRebvwkK3s8EBPqtTRaz4G_Tx2YLCbF7zt6V-c093BbJFiY21WdVbEN7mPtwP0CMjqcbosjudHcC_wvfQyYORmpsQXDZobjX62n3y0_EhLVZhyZPn3uEeOxY34wNMsvUCL6orHx/s320/africa_099.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br /><br /><br />Unfortunately the clinic was also short on equipment and again, no medication available with only one male nurse on staff. This is consistent with the inadequacy of the healthcare system elsewhere in the country, with high patient numbers, lack of infrastructure and too little staffing (in 2006 there were only 646 doctors with a population of almost 12 million, under a third of the doctor-patient ratio recommended by WHO). We were told by locals that the best you can hope for when visiting the clinic is some medical advice, bandages or a bed to deliver your baby. Very sad indeed… We are so spoiled in our land of medical services & supplies aplenty.<br /><br /><div align="center">***<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />*A note on Aids in Zambia<br />Zambia has one of the world’s most devastating HIV and AIDS epidemics. More than one in every seven adults in Zambia is living with HIV and the life expectancy at birth has fallen to just 42 years - compounding Zambia’s existing economic problems. Aids and Aids-related illnesses are rampant in the country and although the numbers tend to be lower in rural areas, treatment is more accessible for those living in urban areas. Although the country has made huge strides in educational and health programs, utilizing NGO’s, faith-based organizations and even the private sector, the health system has suffered years of under-investment and has now been brought to the brink of collapse by the AIDS epidemic. In the past four decades since the country has been independent, peace has been established but prosperity is still a dream and Zambia remains one of the poorest and least developed nations on earth. Success or failure in dealing with the Aids epidemic is a critical factor in determining the country’s future.<br /><br /><br /></div><div align="center">***<br /><br /><br /><br /></div><div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289377216553003650" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-LSHO2tBa7C56ZI7SRSwCEbXkQrNi5qZ6NkN5W6E2EmD8F60rqkNP_Gob9fRDIbgPlWIVdQCCWnwFDBBGqrt-H_nNVCTmToqlKn44T-rPO8kVc1FnzUalARf0spQuuR_0d4zPQqnTM1O0/s320/0811191274.JPG" border="0" /></div><div>We had two nurses on our team, Alyson and Nadia, pictured above administering first Aid to Fidas who had a bad gash from cutting vegetables. One song addressed each of us and went something like this..."if we do not meet again, we will see you in heaven..." Once again, like with so many other moments during our stay, this had such an impact on us and I found it a challenge just holding back my emotions. Their voices epitomized the joyful finality in the build, the love we felt for this wonderful family who had become our friends, the sadness of the reluctant goodbyes we would soon have to say, and finally, </div><div>the incredible opportunity of the journey itself. </div><div><br /><br /></div><div>To our dear & wonderful ladies, a very special Zikomo! Africa has always had a hold on my heart for as long as I can remember, and now my blood runs thick with the desire to return. As an African-born friend of mine told me before I headed over to this incredible country: "I know you will love Africa Miranda, and Africa will love you back"...a love that became so real and overwhelmed me more than I ever dreamed possible. So this is a very reluctant and temporary goodbye –or ‘Salani bwino’ – until next we meet again!<br /><br /></div><div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><br /></div></div></div></div>Littledrummergirl1http://www.blogger.com/profile/06225507151680079445noreply@blogger.com0
